The Hunt

On The Hunt, those influences become even more explicit through tracks like Dark Knight and Cowabunga, which act as cultural anchors to Olly’s lifelong love of characters that defined resilience, identity, and escapism. Dark Knight is a clear nod to Batman—both in tone and attitude—leaning into darker, moodier lyrics and a sense of lone responsibility, mirroring the grind of hunting, risk-taking, and carrying the weight of building something yourself. In contrast, Cowabunga taps straight into the joy, chaos, and brotherhood of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, with playful energy, nostalgia-driven references, and a looser, fun-first delivery that reflects community, inside jokes, and shared excitement during the chase. Together, these tracks show the balance at the heart of The Hunt: grit and discipline on one side, fun and childhood nostalgia on the other—both shaping the style, lyrics, and emotional pull of the album.
